Tomorrow is the first session of the Creative Writing group that I’ve started within Gosport u3a. I think that I am prepared for it, but I am nervous. Mainly, will enough people turn up to justify the group (even now, it could get canned). Well, we will soon find out. I think that perhaps theContinue reading “2025 – Creative Writing”

2024 – Letter to Steve XVII
Dear Steve, The Focus of Gilbert’s letter this week are fish and reptiles. I’m really not in a position to write in detail on either of these, so I take it as an opportunity for some poetic license, jumping around the topic space. We have lived here for a little under twelve years. When weContinue reading “2024 – Letter to Steve XVII”
2023 – Composting Bill
I had the thought that the Compost Bins were not doing very well at all. So, I became determined to stir things up. I learned something. I also wanted to video my activity so that I could perhaps make a vlog out of it. To do that, I set up two cameras: the iPhone onContinue reading “2023 – Composting Bill”
2022 – Thoughts Away.
I’ve been a bit frustrated this week. I forgot to take Gilbert with me when we went to Pagham, so I haven’t done any work on Letter 17 (XVII). But at least I have his book now, and I can read the letter in the morning. There is a possibility that the next Letter toContinue reading “2022 – Thoughts Away.”
2021 – The Organised Ape (until I come up with a better name)
In some recent posts, I have written about something I’ve been calling “The Organised Ape”. What is it, and what is it all about? To go back to the beginning, it was the very first session of the u3a Online Group on Archaeology that I attended, several months ago now. At that session (presented overContinue reading “2021 – The Organised Ape (until I come up with a better name)”
2020 – Stargazing
I’ve just realised that I haven’t done a post about the last u3a Stargazing session. We held it a bit later than usual as it was affected by a bank holiday. Partly because of the late session, it was a couple down on numbers, but we still had a very good discussion. That covered aContinue reading “2020 – Stargazing”
2019 – One of those oops moments
Due to a bit of a mess up, I’m not in a position to do a decent post tonight. There’s nothing major wrong, I just forgot to do something. Apologies about that.
2018 – Pagham
We went fore a short walk on Pagham Brand today. It, like Stokes Bay, is a shingle beach, but the stones on the beach appear to be much different. Stokes bay has what I guess we would think of as stones, whereas Pagham is mostly pebble-like. The stones here are much more rounded and even.Continue reading “2018 – Pagham”
2017 – Letter to Steve, XVI
Dear Steve In his sixteenth letter, Gilbert devotes the first paragraph to the Curlew. I won’t recreate what he says. What I will do, though, is bring him forward to today and talk about the situation with this bird. After reading the letter, I needed to find out about curlews in particular. The website forContinue reading “2017 – Letter to Steve, XVI”
2016 – The Compost Bins.
The top two images are the moisture level and temperature of West, and the bottom two apply to Mid. Don’t forget that I’ve named the compost bins so that I easily know which one I am talking about. West is so called simply because it is a few yards further west than Mid, called thatContinue reading “2016 – The Compost Bins.”
