The church is St Mary’s at Itchen Stoke. We had a brief look inside during our Sunday walk with the Camera Club. Perhaps the most curious thing about it is that at the far end, under the rather spectacular stained glass windows, is a less than half the size reproduction of the original at Chartres. We visited Chartres almost 13 years ago, but we couldn’t walk the labyrinth because the church was undergoing some work, and it was closed off. A tad frustrating, but there you go. Also, absolutely nothing to do with today’s post.
The first Wednesday of the month is something that I quite enjoy when I am able to. In the morning is the monthly meeting of the u3a, but first I want to talk about Claire’s.
Claire’s is a cafe at Thorngate Hall. If I have time, before the u3a meeting to go there and have a Full English breakfast, and very nice it is too, along with a cup of tea and toast.
Breakfast was running a few minutes late. The meeting had started by the time I got in. There couldn’t have been much as the guest speaker had the floor. The speaker was talking about wills and taxes and other financial matters. All interesting stuff.
We’ve had a lovely day with Aurora, she’s behaved very nicely.
