I’m fairly confident that the main vessel in the header is the Dredger Bluefin, which operates in this area a lot. From the direction it is heading (in towards Southampton), it’s either returning from dropping a load at the spill ground or coming in to prepare for a deredging task. Tuesday was, as usual, CameraContinue reading “1918 – Camera Club Night”

1917 – A New Chair
I went in to town this morning. I had a couple of things that I needed to do, not difficult. They were dispatched quickly, I felt able to carry on to the waterfront. Just in time to see this little fishing vessel come in. I used to see them going out very early in theContinue reading “1917 – A New Chair”
1916 – A Lovely day.
We had a bit of admin to deal with first thing, Once that was sout of the way I was able to head into town. Unfortunately, I was having a problem with my hearing aids. Went back to Scrivens, who had supplied them to me, and one of their staff, a young man, immediately andContinue reading “1916 – A Lovely day.”
1915 – U3A Monday, Feb Week 4
Monday of the 4th week of the month is a busy day for me, from a University of the 3rd Age (U3A) point of view. I have two sessions one in the morning, Stargazing. The meeting is held in the Vine on Stoke Road, very nice. Run by Antony, he makes sure. that we don’tContinue reading “1915 – U3A Monday, Feb Week 4”
1914 – Gosport – A town of Contrasts
In its ownright, Gosport is not a big town. The high street is not huge. At the moment, it’s not very weel populated with shop choice – but that is a different story. In population terms though, across Hampshire it sits between the 5th and 8th largest towns in the county. If I were toContinue reading “1914 – Gosport – A town of Contrasts”
1913 – I forgot the Title!
What stands out to you about the picture? is it the top of the spinaker missing in the low cloud base? Or, is it the bird? I’d read somewhere that getting a bird into your picture nearly always improves it. Is that the case here? I have to be honest and say that this wasContinue reading “1913 – I forgot the Title!”
1912 – Embarrasing or not?
I thought I had a Facebookpost lined up, but it has not happened. Not quite sure why. I’d lined it up to be about my attempts at street photography using this door as a background. The picture above is not the result I was looking for. What I wanted was sommebody in a blue coatContinue reading “1912 – Embarrasing or not?”
1911 – Making Smoke
I saw this boat on Tuesday, it really was kicking out a lot of smoke. I wrote on Tuesday about the Gilbert White letters, and have now read his Letter No. I, addressed to Thomas Pennant doesn’t have a date. So I googled to find that the letter was never posted and indeed was writtenContinue reading “1911 – Making Smoke”
1910 – Didn’t walk – Rain!
It has been raining all day. I haven’t been out for a walk, but I did a couple of journeys in the car. Elayne & Aurora went to the house of one her Dancing Group friends for lunch. They do this every month, and last month for the first time I was able to joinContinue reading “1910 – Didn’t walk – Rain!”
1909 – On the Street, at the Camera Club
Let’s get the Camera Club out of the way first; Tonights competition was an open for our group (no set topic) The header picture was one I took at the market in Salisbury when we went as the club last month. Whilst I didn’t get an award, I did get a 9/10 which I amContinue reading “1909 – On the Street, at the Camera Club”
