The Third Tuesday of the month is a busy day for me. In the mornings, I am the Group Leader for the Creative Writing Group. This week, we had 8 attendees including myself.
The topic for todays session was Characterisation – writing characters. There are a few ways to do this; a straight forward (or perhaps not) list of the characteristics, and how they work on the individual. The other ways include a narrative form, and writing the story, allowing the character to develope .
We agreed that next months session would address dialogue.
The afternoons session was Exploring Art, with a topic of Urban Decay. I have to confess to some frustration at not having prepared anything. Nonetheless, the other presenters did a good job, and the afternoon session was most entertaining and informative.
The topic for the next session is warfare and conflict. It would be too easy to go down the route of covering human conflict. But, I don’t want to do that. I do have an idea for an alternative approach. I shall let it develop between now and then.
Returning to the Camera Club, we had missed the first session, but had been able to submit prints for the second competition. I’d say that my prints were average, and the judge was very kind to me.
Elayne did well, she is now in Group A for prints. I am very proud of her.
