This is the link to yesterday’s post, just in case you haven’t read it; https://localitystories.com/2026/05/27/2006-a-bit-of-a-frustration/
As you’ll see from the title (even if you don’t read the post). If you have read the post, you’ll probably be a bit confused.
The confusion will arise over exactly what I’m frustrated about. You’ll get a hint of it from the first paragraph (which, for full understanding, it would be nice if you read the post).
In the first paragraph, I mention that I haven’t been able to find out much about the shingle beach at Stokes Bay. What I found a while ago was a map dated 1831 that showed Stokes Bay Beach as being shingled. Of course, I didn’t bookmark the map (Oh, that’s alright, it’ll be easy to find again), and obviously I can’t find it (I think it was on the National Library of Scotland site, but I can’t find it).
I expanded the search. The Admiralty Charts sounded good. Do you think I can find even an image of a chart? Nope.
What I am after doing is finding the earliest indication of the beach as naturally shingle. I have become quite frustrated about my inability to find images, which should be easier to find.
That is my frustration, which I didn’t talk about last night,
