I was deterrmined to try and get out for a walk this morning. i had a couple of thtings in mind thata I wanted to do, and onething I needed to do (I succeeded in two, and failed in one – more on that in a bit).
I didn’t go anywhere special, following my normal route. I did though go in to Richard Martyn’s Gallery to have a look at the books. As usuall, he had a good selection, although there was nothing I wanted. There a couple of piles of books by the bookshelf, I think waiting to be sorted. I think it was Mr. Martyn himself said that he was quite happy for me to go through the books. I didn’t.
I did go and have a look at his pile of Portsmouth Papers. Luckily, they have a list of papers on the back of each publication, and after a quick scan, I saw that No. 17 Captain John Mason and the Duke of Buckingham is the one I’m after. Unfortunately, it wasn’t in the pile. I said I’ll have to pop in to the Discovery Centre to see if the have one, but they are only 75p from the archive, so I’ll have to see if I can order one.
I was deliberately looking for nature related subjects. Lichen on trees, Galls – this is a new one on me. Apparently, there are insects that lay eggs on trees and make the trees build a protective cover over it – Galls (I’ve probably got that it a bit wrong, but it’s almost there.
I wanted to try a new technique for street photography, my plan was to do it as I was walking down the high street. For some reason, which I can’t tell you, because I don’t know, I didn’t do it. The failure
The second success was simple. I went to the shop, and got everything on the list.
Later in the day, Elayne and I went to Stokes Bay. Elayne has another interest, tumbling stones. I wanted to take some pictures of the Groynes.
