It’s just gone 1130PM. less than half an hour to midnight, at which point my post counter will either stay is it is, or be reset to 0. Currently, it stands at about 20. I think the most I have ever got to is around 116. Can you imagine my frustration when, at 116, for whatever reason, I didn’t post in time, and it got reset to 0? I really was quite miffed.
So, here I am now, I’ve been sitting here at the computer, with the intention of doing a post about the beach at Stokes Bay. In a bit of a quandry (ChatGPT would tell me off for saying this) at what I really want to post about being so incredibly boring to my average reader, that I am hoping that you know me well enough to think “Oh, that’s alright, he’ll be back to normal tomorrow”.
I’ve done a bit of research about the beach at Stokes Bay, and have gone back (so far) to 1831 to confirm that it is a naturally shingle beach. Which it is, but it is also managed, which means that the shingle is topped up, and arranged by us, people. Which kind of leads me on to a question; what happens to the shingle, that it needs to me managed, and what are the processes that take that shingle away from the beach?
Those questions will have already been answered, and i will end up looking them up, either in the library, or here on the internet. But it also gives me an excuse to do a little bit of research myself, which I want to do because of…Yes, you guessed it; u3a.
One of the groups I’m in is Geology, actually it’s an online group, so we meet through zoom, and as is the case with all of the groups I’m in, if I can I like to give myself a little project, so this is the current little project for geology. Working out the asnswer to the question; what happens to the shingle on the beach at Stokes Bay? I’m sure you think it”s absolutely riveting. And actually, just the prospect of investigating this (from which, you’ll see I haven’t actually started, apart form a little bit of background research) is really quite exciting, for me. Perhaps not you?
