This was the sight that greeted me on the high street. It like the trolleys in the cockle ponds (although, in my view that is worse than this, but this is bad enough.
I tweeted this picture to Gosport Streetscene to let them know about it, as I do whenever I see the trolleys. It’s the need I feel in me that I need to do something about it.
Now, in all fairness, you could look at this picture, and the trolleys, and think why would I want to live in Gosport? Now, this is one of those relatively rare non-seagull acts of vandalism that would be as likely to see in any town, probably anywhere in the world.
I’ve walked down the high street and seen bags ripped open, with their contents spilled out.
But then, you see the street staff. There are a couple of chaps who are always out with their trolleys emptying the bins and cleaning the streets. I quite often stop and have a chat with them. They do a really good job. Most mornings when I’m out walking the street sweeper usually passes me at some point on Stokes Road. Then of course, there are the binmen. I have to admit, I wouldn’t do their job, we really would be in a mess without them.
The town does a pretty good job.
