I got out of the house later than I intended this morning. Catching the bus down to the interchange. I paused at the waterfront I almost missed the Guillaum De Normandie completely, but was just able to see it go around the corner at the top of the channel.
I had a quick chat with the bus driver, I wanted to find out about charging intervals for the buses. Unfortuantely, the lady driver wasn’t able to answer my question. I hadn’t realised that the drivers don’t stick to one bus, on one route. My trip on the No. 9 was at the end of, what was for her, about an hour’s drive on one of the most indirect routes between Gosport & Fareham. She had already been on at least two other routes, including one to Portsmouth. I couldn’t help wondering if that was to build an equivalent of “The Knowledge” (See London Black Cab driver training), or just to give the drivers some variety in their day? Perhaps I need to speak to a few more drivers.
I had a quick look to see what was going on at the construction site that will be The People’s Park. There was no one near the fenceline, otherwise I would have asked how things are going.
I went into the Craft Cafe for tea and a snack. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to do a facebook post, even though I felt I had material for one – perhaps tomorrow, even though I probably won’t be able to get out.
I was concerned about going in to U3A, todays session was Exploring Art. I was feeling really tired, and did not want to fall asleep. I needn’t have worried. Once again, it was a fascinating session. Today’s subject was “Weather in Art”. Once again several people had prepared power points, basic stuff, nothing sophisticated, but please don’t think I’m being insulting when I say that. Absolutely not. Each presentation was interesting and informative. I’m keen to do one myself. I have one in mind for the History group next week. The next topic for Exploring Art is “Family”.
Camera Club was the presentation of judging of the Southern Counties Photographic Federation. We were shown 64 images from various SCPF member clubs, including Gosport. In the scoring Gosport came 3rd. I got the impression from the committee that obviously they would have preferred 1st, but actually were quite pleased with the result. There were some excellent images.
