I’m making an assumption that you have an interest in photography. But what type? It could be that you have a fairly recent phone that has a reasonable camera, which you only use for family or holiday pictures (which is absolutely fine, I am definitely not criticising – I’m willing to bet that you have pictures which stir your heart and you love.
Conversely, you might specialise in a particular form, and have the budget to indulge that interest (I’m really not talking about professionals here). Landscape, macro, portraiture, sport, wedding photography are all forms that can be taken by amateurs.
If you are even a little bit serious about the hobby, chances are that you are reading the occasional magazine or possibly a book. You may even be focusing on a particular field, perhaps for hints and tips to improve your results.
My problem is that I have become really frustrated of late with the content and quality of my photos, for both those reasons. There is the topic, and how you take the picture. I’m not happy with both.
One area I haven’t mentioned before in this entry is street photography – I’m afraid to say that this is the area that has grabbed me. Now, I think I have the equipment setup I need for the subject. I just need to get out and do it.
Now, that is an entirely different issue.
