I haven’t looked back through my blogs since I retired, but I am sure that I will have written about this since then. That is a routine, or lack of one. I am increasingly finding myself frustrated by not having a routine.
See the number at the top of this post – 1899? Over 5 years ago, I committed myself to doing a blog every day for a year. As is always the case, the plan didn’t survive first contact with the enemy, in this case, time. I had missed days in that first year, but then did I think that I would still be doiing this blog 5 years later? Of course not, but I am delighted that I am, and if you are reading this blog (this post or others), whether only for one post or you are a regular visitor, thank you very much for being here.
I want to try another commitment, well acctually, several. I’ve extracted three books from my collection, they are;
- The Antiquities and Natural History of Selbourne by Gilbert White
- Can you Run the Economy by Joe Mayes
- The Beginner’s Photography Guide – No author as far as I can tell.
This is what I want to do;
Every day, as early as I can, I will read one of Gilbert’s letters, and if I go for a walk, will try to find at least one equivalent observation.
In the case of this book, it’s a game, a fascinating one. The book has been sitting on my desk for several months. Over that time, I have done a few of the scenarios, it is very interesting and a bit of fun. My commitment is to read at least part of a section or do the exercise every day.
The Beginners Photography Guide – I will read part of the book, bearing in mind that I have been playing with photography for not far off 50 years, so my purpose in reading the book and doing the exercises is to decide if I knew that and comment on that.
OK, I pretty much know in advance that I probably won’t be able to this every day, but regardless, I will try to comment on this in my posts (I know, that’s a commitment to do pretty much nothing but I’ll see).
