We fancied a cup of tea down at Pebbles on Stokes Bay. There was quite a breeze blowing. I wanted to for a bit of a stroll, so I headed towards Gilkicker.

There’s a lot of work going on there. Since the last time I visited the fort, they have restricted access so that you can’t walk all the way around it.
I didn’t walk along the front as I couldn’t be bothered to walk in the gravel that is the waterfront. From a distance it looks like the chimney stacks have been more exposed, but closer up I was surprised to see that the grass wall running around the front has been doubled in height with rubble. Why would they do that?
Anyhow. Walking in the wind. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I took a waterproof with me to use against the wind. I didn’t need it. It was quite pleasant.
I stopped at one point to talk to a bloke who, as I walked past, launched a drone. It went up about five feet and hovered, it then went to bout 50 feet. What was really impressive was it’s stability. I had a brief chat with the pilot. Very impressive and interesting.
It was a quite enjoyable stroll.
